Meet the Chiropractor

Rick Hyde is a Wheaton chiropractor who serves Wheaton and the surrounding communities in IL .

Rick Hyde uses chiropractic care to improve the health and wellness in all areas of patient's lives, whether they are having problems with back pain or neck pain, or just want to start feeling better when they wake up in the morning.  Hyde takes a "whole person" approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column, and Hyde will be able to determine the root of the pain and create a personalized chiropractic and wellness plan to suit each patient's individual needs. Under the supervision and care of our caring and skilled chiropractor, patients report higher functioning in all areas of their lives.

My Story

Chronic asthma, allergies, constant knee pain, failed surgeries, herniated discs, damaged nerves, constant back pain, migraines,  headaches, sciatica down both legs and arms, and chronic pain have been cured through the 7 essentials that I teach.  Having played three sports in high school and college I needed a better way to identify the cause, the cure, and then the lifelong plan to keep me alive and healthy.   Thankfully those prayers were answered and want to help you live at your optimal health too.

I had chronic asthma and seasonal allergies as a child with chronic shots weekly and inhalers constantly. I had a tight back, and two stingers down my arm that last 5 seconds, in my football carrier. I played three sports in college and suffered from chronic knee tendonitis, among other sports injuries, to where it hurt even to walk.  Was I healthy because I was great at working out and nutrition?  Obviously not.

I was a premed / pre-pt student and I tried to deal with the chronic tendonitis by seeking out athletic trainers, pt’s, and podiatrists for years.  I hit a guy in football and my arm went numb for a couple of seconds but it went away.  I went to the sidelines and they told me to stretch and not to play football because of my range of motion in my neck was bad because I had a lot of tight muscles but not pain.  My friend on the team, told me, “I am going to take you to my chiropractor, let’s go, I’ll take you.”  The Chiropractor adjusted my spine and talked about how the brain and spinal nerves control all your organs, and chiropractic restores life.  Above down inside and out health was what he called it through keeping the spinal nerve holes open and aligned.  I couldn’t remember feeling so much energy in my body once he removed the interference to the nerves that the subluxations and misalignments were causing.  I decided to be a chiropractor that moment.  I started to read text books on chiropractic.  He said I needed to do it for the rest of my life if I wanted my organs to live and be healthy.  After that, I felt I needed some help and nothing was working to the point I couldn’t run anymore with my knees and I prayed to the Lord for Help.  I felt I needed to go to National College of Chiropractic, now NUHS.

I had been to the top chiropractors and surgeons to where the Chicago Bear’s surgeon did a surgery he didn’t think was going to work, but said do it because I thought I tried everything.  His associate said it’s noninvasive so you have nothing to lose.  It made the knee caps floppy and worse.  I didn’t think anyone could help me anymore.  I couldn’t even ride a bike or walk without the knee caps flopping out. I was losing hope of regaining pain free activities. I cried myself to sleep many nights knowing how I got myself into this mess but I can’t get out and it’s getting worse with no end in sight.  They said it was genetic with Olympic Sprinters, and my dad and I were built for speed, there was nothing else I could do.

At NUHS a doctor figured out my whole muscle posture was off of my entire body, causing hips to be misaligned, but couldn’t fix it.  Therapy didn’t work by some of the best pts either.  I decided to become a certified chiropractic sports physician on the weekends while going to school.   I tried yoga and Pilates moves and bent down and herniated my discs to the point where I couldn’t sit for an hour.  By then I had a right triceps twitch every time I wrote and the student doctors treating me started to say I had student syndrome because I had had so many conditions that weren’t real.

I got specific chiropractic treatment and the triceps twitch and chronic headaches/migraines were gone. I figured out a low back system better than anything I’ve seen 20 years later for my herniated discs in my neck and back because I had to.  My back feels great.  I developed an assessment for all the joints, muscles, and alignment that I no longer have knee pain.  I didn’t need the surgeries.  I helped my allergies and asthma and have contained them without medication for 20 years due to the advanced functional nutrition testing because that was the cause of them.  My daughter had scoliosis so I had to go to the top in the world for that as well.   My wife had morning sickness for 18 months for the first 4 kids and almost died, it was almost gone for the next 3 kids due to great nutritional advice.  So I’ve seen great things happen through using natural means.

My mom went to a chiropractor who talked about life in the spinal nerves, and she had a subluxation with no pain or symptoms in 1950.  I noticed she had pain when I was 6 and wanted to help.  Later by 1997 that untreated subluxation that caused spinal stenosis and degeneration of the nerve on the left side also caused left kidney failure taken out at Mayo Clinic, along with her bowels, and bladder.  The next lab period at NUHS I had to do the same surgery to my cadaver.  My dad had a heart attach the same week we studied nerve and blood supply to the heart.  His x-ray shows damage to spine mainly where the spine is out of alignment and crushing the nerve in one spot, the main heart nerve.  He had arteries blocked needing stints.  Prayers were answered! Causes identified! The plan for the essentials of health developed for all for a lifetime.

My mission is simple for the planet - avoid unnecessary suffering and enjoy optimal health.  The systems needing a doctor that keep you alive are nerve supply, blood, oxygen, water, and nutrition.  The other non-life system essentials are bodily hygiene (joint, disc, teeth, etc..) and mind/spirit health.    Do you want to be healthy?  Contact our office right now and make an appointment.  You’ll never regret doing these essentials that keep your body healthy and alive.

  • "Dr. Hydes is an exceptional chiropractor and displays great care for his patients. I came to Dr. Hyde with neck pains and issues dealing with post collegiate athletics and with his background was able to diagnose the problem right away and begin treatment. I would recommend Dr. Hyde for athletic chiropractic treatment."

  • "Dr Hyde is amazing. The care that he's provided me and my family started with the most comprehensive -education I've ever experienced. And does it in a way that's easy to understand. As a former professional soccer player I've experienced a myriad of injuries.. head, neck, back, knees, hip, you name it. I've lived through pain most of my life. In a relatively short period of time, I've already started to feel the therapeutic and healing results of his treatments. I highly recommend him."
